About Timothy Ng

Timothy Ng Wai Keong founded Timothy Ng LLC (formerly known as Timothy Ng & Co). He practises commercial arbitration/litigation, focusing principally on contractual, construction and civil engineering disputes. Timothy Ng has acted for and against professional associations in the construction industry in disciplinary hearings as well as for consultants, contractors and developers in construction related disputes, in both arbitration and litigation. His portfolio of non-contentious work involves drafting and vetting building, consultancy and other construction related documents.

Timothy Ng graduated from the University of Buckingham in 1994, was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Gray’s Inn) the following year and the Singapore Bar in 1997. He has been in active practice since. In the course of practice, he pursued a two-year (part-time) Masters in Law at the National University of Singapore which he obtained in 2003.

Timothy Ng has presented papers at seminars and jointly conducted workshops for professional associations in the construction industry. He has also lectured construction law as well as dispute resolution to postgraduate students on the Masters of Science (International Construction Management) programme at Nanyang Technological University and shall be heading the construction law course at another local university in 2012. 

Timothy Ng is on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee of the Law Society of Singapore and played an active role in the Launch of the Law Society of Singapore Arbitration Rules. The Rules were launched on 1 August 2007. He was Counsel for the successful party in the 1st Arbitration Case under the Law Society Arbitration Scheme.

Timothy is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as well as the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and is also on the Law Society of Singapore Panel of Arbitrators. He is also a member of Gray's Inn (England & Wales) and the Academy of Law Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (Law Society of Singapore).

Contentious
Timothy Ng’s practice covers commercial litigation/arbitration with particular emphasis on construction and civil engineering disputes. He has been involved in litigation at the appellate level as well as both domestic and international arbitrations. Timothy has also been involved in disciplinary proceedings against architects before the Board of Architects having prosecuted on behalf of the Board of Architects as well as defending an architect in disciplinary proceedings before the Board of Architects.

Non-Contentious
Timothy’s experience in non-contentious work includes advising on and drafting of building contracts and consultancy agreements for both local and foreign construction projects.

Others
Besides professional work, Timothy is also active in community service. Timothy had served in the management committee of the Simei Care Centre advising it on legal matters during the construction phase of the Care Centre. He is presently the Treasurer of Teach His Word, a Christian Charity.

  • Jointly conducted a presentation of the Law Society Arbitration Rules to the Housing Development Board.
