CONSTRUCTION | CIVIL & COMMERCIAL DISPUTES
1) CONSTRUCTION
i) AIRPORTS
Acted for the Main Contractor in a dispute with one of the sub-contractors involving a claim of approximately $50 million pertaining to the construction of the taxiway for an airport terminal.
Advised an electrical specialist subcontractor in respect of his claim against the main contractor over an airport terminal building.
ii)PORTS/NAVAL BASE
Acted for the Main Contractor in various disputes with several its sub-contractors pertaining to the construction of a naval base.
Advised a leading local contractor in respect of its dispute with the employer in respect of the construction of a port in Myanmar.
Advised a Dredging Contractor in respect of disputes with the Regulatory Authority (Coastline) and the Employer.
WATER PROJECTS Advised the Superintending Officer in respect of disputes relating to the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System Project.
iii) BUILDING & STRUCTURAL DISPUTES
Acted for a piling sub-contractor (a public listed company) in a domestic arbitration against the main contractor involving defects and delays in piling, excavation and associated works, temporary protection, sub-structure and part of the super structure works in respect of a condominium project.
Acted for main contractor in arbitration proceedings involving a statutory board concerning defects relating to the foundation design in an international business park in Singapore (claims in excess of S50 million).
Acted in a dispute amongst building owners of several pre-war shop houses for structural damage to their building caused by excavation and construction works carried out by the adjoining properties.
iv) MCST DEFECTS DISPUTES
Defended various parties, contractors, subcontractor, developers and consultants in various claims brought by different MCSTs relating to their respective condominiums .

2) CIVIL & COMMERCIAL DISPUTES

Our dispute resolution practice encompasses the negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial and appeal of the entire spectrum of claims relating to commercial and civil disputes.
i) DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS
Prosecuting on behalf of the Board of Architects against architects in disciplinary proceedings.
Defended an architect in disciplinary proceedings brought on by the Board of Architects.
ii) ARBITRATION
Successfully resisting an application in the High Court brought by one of the parties in an arbitration for an injunction to restrain arbitration proceedings.
Successfully resisting an application in the High Court brought by one of the parties in an arbitration for the arbitrator to be removed on grounds of conflict of interests.
iii) COMMERCIAL DISPUTES
Acted for a leading local contractor in obtaining an injunction to restrain a foreign specialist subcontractor from removing plant and equipment out of Singapore and compelling the subcontractor to return the equipment to the site.
Acted for a world renowned Asian Brewery in a dispute with its joint venture partner, a European MNC over a breach of the joint venture agreement. The governing law of the contract was Singapore and the dispute was to be arbitrated in London under the ICC Rules.
Acted for a food court operator in relation to a tenancy dispute with a stall holder. This dispute received extensive press coverage and went all the way to the Singapore Court of Appeal. It involved among other things, novel points of the law of Agency.
Represented an ex employee in a dispute over the right to the application of a patent as well as allegations over misuse of confidential information.
Advised a specialist subcontractor in a potential action against a competitor for reverse passing off.
Various other shareholders and partnership/joint venture disputes.
